What I’m Watching: Parallel (2024)

Synopsis: “Grief-stricken after the loss of her child, Vanessa takes refuge at a lake house only to be met with an aberration of herself from a parallel universe and realizes the multiverse gates hold the key to releasing her grief or trapping her forever.”

My take: Wonderful performances in this sci-fi, thriller, mystery, suspense that offers both emotional baggage to unpack and edge-of-your-seat dangerous scenarios.

Produced by and starring real-life brothers Aldis and Edwin Hodge, Parallel contains one location with three actors and yet the story feels bigger. The multiverse plot illustrates how the things that haunt us might not be ghosts but the infinite possibilities of our lives and the persistent sense that we wish we could choose a different outcome.
